My name is Cheryl A. Jensen and I have three amazing children and one wonderful grandson. I am an Air Force brat and in 1992 my husband and I moved back to New Mexico and in 1996 my husband died.
After my husband was murdered, I turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the hurt, anger and loneliness. My life was a chaotic mess. God got my attention through the loss of everything – my home, my belongings, even my kids! One day, in a fit of rage, I had the strongest sense that I should go to talk with some pastors who had spoken with me about God and church on the day my husband had been murdered. I remembered the peace I had had from talking with those men, and though I fought the idea of going to that church building, I finally went. I fully expected the place to be all closed up, but amazingly the very pastors I needed to talk with were there! Though I resisted their counsel, I knew it was my only hope. Jesus captured my stubborn, suspicious heart, and now my heart longs to reach out to other women whose lives have been torn apart by drugs and alcohol. It’s amazing that the Lord uses my weak and needy life to lead the Only Way for Women Ministry. And, by the way, I got my kids back – and now even own my own home! What a God of grace!
I don’t have any hobbies.
2. What is your favorite book in the Bible?
As of right now my favorite book in the Bible is Ephesians.
3. What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Ezekiel 36:25-27 I like these verses because the Lord tells me that He will take out my stony, stubborn heart and give me a tender, responsive heart and that He will give me His Spirit.
4. What is your best childhood memory?
My best childhood memory is the trips to my Grandma’s house. I remember the drive taking forever however at the end of the trip there was Grandma waiting at the door no matter what time it was.
