Juanita Hall – Women’s Ministry Coordinator

Robert and Juanita HallIn April of 1979, after bringing me to the place of brokenness and helplessness, I surrendered my life to my Savior Jesus. At the urging of friends, I had attended a Bible study home fellowship where I witnessed the most incredible love I had ever seen!
That just truly touched my heart, and, on the way home, with tears streaming down my face, I cried out to God to please give me that kind of love – never even knowing that I was asking for Jesus Himself to take over my life. God gave me an astonishing hunger for Truth from His word, and I never wanted to miss one single church service or Bible study, because I could immediately see how the Truth from the Bible set me free from so much bondage to sin. I longed for other hurting women to know this same truth, and, one day, my women’s Bible study leader asked me to teach for her. I was terrified, but so excited to share what God had been showing me. And that has been my passion ever since. It is so fun and a great privilege to be used by the Lord as the Women’s Ministry Coordinator at Calvary Chapel Rio Rancho!

1. What are some of your hobbies?

I love cooking, especially making apple pies! Cross stitching used to be a passion, but it seems there’s little time for it these days. And, good Christian nonfiction books are also a treasure in my life.

2. What is your favorite book in the Bible?

That’s a tossup between Proverbs, Hebrews, and Philippians.

3. What is your favorite Bible verse and why?

I have many favorite Bible verses, but one of my favorites is Philippians 2:12-13, especially in the Living Bible Translation: ”Now that I am away you must be even more careful to do the good things that result from being saved, obeying God with deep reverence, shrinking back from all that might displease him. 13?For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey him, and then helping you do what he wants.” It’s my favorite because it speaks of man’s part and God’s part in the process of sanctification, and reminds me that I have no power within myself to do any truly good thing, and that it is therefore only Jesus who can work practical holiness in me.

4. What is your best childhood memory?

My best childhood memories are of the visits my Air Force family made to see my grandparents in Storm Lake, Iowa whenever we would come back to the United States. My older sister and I felt so proud clutching the big hands of our grandfather as people would respectfully greet us as we walked to the courthouse where he was the county treasurer, And visiting there also meant trips out to my great uncle’s farmhouse to ride on the tractor and play with the new kittens.
